Apart from playing violin, Goldberg’s mother, Ethel, also breeds flowers. She once created an award-winning hybrid orchid, which she named after him.
Before developing a career in professional wrestling, Goldberg played as the defensive tackle for the Georgia Bulldogs and was drafted by the NFL side Los Angeles Ram in the year 1990.
Thanks to the WCW legends Lex Luger and Sting, who discovered Goldberg at a gym in Atlanta; impressed by his personality, they asked him to try his luck at Pro-wrestling.
Originally, Goldberg made his in-ring debut under the name Bill-Gold. He fought 5 dark matches under this name before finally evolving into the character Goldberg.
It is said that within one and a half year of Goldberg’s debut in WCW, he got the accolade of holding an undefeated streak of 176 matches. However, many experts and wrestlers believe that this figure is too overstated and in reality, the actual number should be somewhere around 128.
Goldberg is a pure vegetarian and actively participates in various animal welfare campaigns; he is also an activist for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
While one group of fans believes that a botched kick from Goldberg is the reason behind the abrupt end of Bret The Hitman Hart’s career, the other, however, supports the notion that it was Bret, who despite being injured kept on fighting continuously, only to cost his career.
In his entire career, Goldberg has lost only five matches and in all of those matches, the winners got an outside help en-route to victory.
Interestingly, like Stone Cold, Goldberg has his own podcast named Who’s Next with Bill Goldberg. Although the podcast is exclusively for sportspersons, only two of the WWE superstars- Edge and Shelton Benjamin have appeared on it.
