Rahul started his career as a model in Delhi after finishing his college.
In the late 1980s, his mother used to write articles for a fashion magazine, and when Mahesh Bhatt read his work, he expressed the desire to meet her. And, when he saw Rahul’s photos, he asked him to try his luck in Bollywood. Later, he met Mahesh Bhatt in Juhu, Mumbai and was offered the lead role in Aashqui.
In 1990, he became a huge star overnight with the success of his debut film Aashqui. Even his hairstyle became a trendsetter in India.
The music of this movie was such a massive hit that around 10 million copies of it have been sold till now, making it the highest selling album in Indian.
After the success of Aashiqui, he received around 18 film offers, but he turned down all saying that he can’t work 24×7.
He acted in around 18 films till 1999, and after that he took a big break of 7 years and made his Bollywood comeback in 2006 with the film Naughty Boy.
In 2006, he won the Bigg Boss 1 and won the prize money of 1 crore (INR) for it.
He has a production company called Rahul Roy Productions.
