Sandeep is a swimmer and an Asian Games medalist.
His sister Pallavi Sejwal is also a national medalist in swimming.
He got training in swimming from the famous Indian swimming coach Nihar Ameen in K.C. Reddy Swim Center, Bangalore.
He is supported by GoSports Foundation, a sports non-profit organization that aims to promote sporting excellence in India.
He is the Senior National Champion and Indian National Record-holder in the 50 m, 100 m, and 200 m Breaststroke events.
In 2007, he won the silver medals at the Asian Indoor Games in the 50 m and 100 m Breaststroke events.
He was the first Indian breaststroke swimmer who qualified for an Olympic Games.
